Republican Justice Isn’t Blind It’s Cripple Crazy and Corrupt

“When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer ‘Present’ or ‘Not Guilty!” Theodore Roosevelt, Republican President

By Glen Reeaux

The founding fathers with all of their great wisdom established a system of government based upon the principles that no man is above the law and that justice is blind, also referred to as blind justice.  In doing so, without the use of a crystal ball, they were incredibly successful.  Their system of government lasted for nearly 250 years.  For 250 years the constitution protected us from tyranny.  Until now, enter so-called –president Donald J. Trump who wants to be known as “King Donald.”  The founding fathers never imagined that a traitor would one day become president of their dreamland.  They never thought that the constitution which guarantees a system of justice where no man is above the law would ever fail.  George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton and the others all believed that in designing a justice system where a person is innocent until proven guilty, the atrocities of King George III would never exist in their America.  A system where justice is blind means that there are no conclusions about a person’s guilt or innocence until a fair and impartial trial has been conducted and presided over by a fair and impartial judge.  The accused even has the right to trial by a jury of his or her peers.  Also, the system protects against the persecution of political enemies.  Their justice system also provides laws designed to protect the people from despots such as King George III and other corrupt officials.  Today this system is often represented by Lady Justice, a statue of a robe-draped, blindfolded lady holding the scales of justice, symbolic of the concept of blind justice.  However, in Trump-land the system of blind justice no longer exists.  Under Donald Trump “Republican Justice Isn’t Blind It’s Cripple Crazy and Corrupt.”  Under this new form of justice, Trump’s goal is to cause the destruction of our constitutional democratic republic and establish himself as the first American dictator.  In his mind’s eye and “big brain”, he will be King Donald.

Lady Justice

While the word traitor may appear to be harsh and unwarranted, let’s examine the language being used.  According to Webster, a traitor is “one who betrays another’s trust or is false to an obligation or duty, 2: one who commits treason.  Also according to Webster treason is: the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign’s family, 2: the betrayal of a trust: treachery

General Benedict Arnold Traitor of the American Revolutionary War

Now that you have a true understanding of traitor and treason, you must put these words into context in relation to Trump and his traitorous minions known as the Republican leadership (Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, John Thune, John Cornyn).

Senators McConnell, Graham, Thune, Cornyn

To become President, Donald Trump had to swear an oath of office.  The wording of the oath is specified in Article II, Section One, Clause 8, of the United States Constitution:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Trump taking the oath of office, January 2017

United States Senators also have to take a more detailed oath of office {1}:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

When examining the text of both oaths, the most important phrases are “protect and defend” and “support and defend.”  By dishonoring these oaths, Trump and his Republican minions have become traitors.  A failure to protect and defend or support the constitution places our system of blind justice at risk.  More importantly, when these traitors openly defy the constitution and take actions to subvert one or more of the three branches of government, our democracy ceases to exist and dictatorship rules. All parties to these actions whether Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal are traitors.  These corrupt traitors have crippled our justice system by appointing corrupt officials in the form of Supreme Court Justices, Federal Judges, Attorney Generals and Cabinet Officers.  This has created the craziness that has infected America today.

The recent Mueller Investigation was conducted by a true American hero.  Robert Mueller is a former Marine Corps Officer who has received both the Bronze Star for heroism and the Purple Heart for being wounded in action while serving in the Viet Nam War.  He is a registered Republican and has served as FBI Director under both Republican and Democratic Presidents.  During his career, he served as an assistant United States attorney; a United States attorney; United States assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division; a homicide prosecutor in Washington, D.C.; acting United States deputy attorney general; director of the FBI.  Mueller is the epitome of blind justice.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller

As such, he conducted the investigation into Russian Election Interference and Obstruction of Justice by Donald Trump aka the Mueller Report {2}, in a fair and impartial, by-the-book manner that would have made our founding fathers proud.  While the end results of the investigation obviously are not popular, his conclusions were based upon the facts of the case and the rules dictated by the Justice Department.  For his service to this country, he has been rewarded with the distortion of the results of the report by Trump’s Attorney General William Barr, and Barr’s lies to Congress and the American people.  Trump has also attacked Robert Mueller’s character with out-right lies.  All of these actions are straight out of the Republican Party playbook and attempts by Trump to confuse the issues, hide the truth from the American public and through his misinformation campaign, cripple the American justice system.

Fearing the results of the Mueller Report, on December 7, 2018, Donald Trump nominated controversial, former George H. W. Bush Attorney General, William Barr to replace ousted Attorney General Jeff Sessions.  Fully aware of Trump’s motivations and knowing that the result would cripple the Justice Department and cast doubt upon the Mueller investigation, the Republican-controlled Senate led by Mitch McConnell confirmed William Barr as Attorney General on February 14, 2019.  As expected, less than 6 weeks after his confirmation, the Mueller report was closed and turned over to Barr on March 22,2019.  And, in less than 48 hours, on March 24th, Barr released a 4-page summary which distorted the facts of the two-year report and declared Trump innocent of obstruction-of-justice.  His bastardization of the Mueller Report cannot be characterized as anything other than crazy.  It was obvious to the Democrats in Congress that if they believed that Barr could read a 448-page legal report, review all of the accompanying evidence, summarize it and condense into a 4-page declaration of innocence for Donald Trump, the American people would consider them to be just as mentally deranged and cripple as Barr.  So according to the laws of this country, they acted upon their constitutional rights and responsibilities of oversight and demanded that Barr appear before Congress to explain his conclusions.  NOTE: The complete Mueller Report can be downloaded by following the links provide below in the linked sources and documentations which can be found at the en of this article.{2}

During the course of the May 1st Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Barr was unable to justify his conclusions and on many occasions tried to confuse the Democrats on the committees (many of them are accomplished attorneys) with nonsensical answers.  Instead of seeking truthful answers from Barr, Republican Committee Members often showered Barr with praise and actually attempted to disrupt the Democrats questioning of Trump’s Attorney General.

Barr Summary of the Mueller Report

Despite the inappropriate support from the Republicans, Barr continued to struggle under pressure from the Democrats.  The hearing came to a climax when the Democrats provided a copy of a 3-page letter from Special Counsel to Barr dated March 27th.  The letter explained in detail that Mueller felt Barr had misrepresented his report in his 4-page summary and urged Barr to release the summaries that accompanied the report.  The letter was clear proof that Barr had lied to Congressman Charlie Crist of Florida.

Mueller-Letter-to-Barr March 27_2019

During an April 9th House Appropriations Committee hearing, Crist asked Barr if he knew what Mueller’s team was referencing when they expressed concerns that the Barr summary did not represent the finding of the Mueller Report.  Barr’s response to the question was “No, I don’t.”  With this answer, Barr committed the crime of perjury by lying to Congress.

Senator Kamala Harris of California, the former Attorney General of California continued the interrogation of Barr in reference to his review of the evidence and the appropriateness of the role that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein played in the 4-page summary and the decision not to Charge Trump will obstruction-of-justice.  Rosenstein was a witness in the investigation and should have been prohibited from having a role in making decisions related to the report {3}.  By the end of Senator Harris’ questioning, Barr’s struggle to either answer or evade the Senator’s questions left him looking as if he had become mentally crippled by the encounter.

Attorney General Barr appears crippled by Senator Harris’ questions

During the hearing, Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois referencing the manner in which Barr had misrepresented the Mueller Report asked the Attorney General if he would recuse himself from the 14 other ongoing investigations that were a byproduct of the Mueller investigation, to which Barr replied that he would not.   On May 8th, the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Barr in Contempt of Congress.  Barr’s own behavior has effectively destroyed his reputation, made impossible his ability to serve as the Attorney General and has crippled the Justice Department.  Barr’s corrupt decision to act as so-called-president Trump’s personal attorney rather than upholding his oath of office as the attorney for the people of the United States has caused members of both the House and Senate to call for his resignation and some have demanded that he be impeached.  Support for the demands that Barr resign and subsequently be impeachment has been offered in the form of a letter by former Justice Department employees who disputed Barr’s declaration that Trump was innocent of obstruction-of-justice.  The letter posted on May 7th and signed by 370 former federal prosecutors states “Each of us believes that the conduct of President Trump described in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report would, in the case of any other person not covered by the Office of Legal Counsel policy against indicting a sitting President, result in multiple felony charges for obstruction of justice.” By the next day, the number of signatures of former federal prosecutors had grown to more than 650.

Senator Harris questions Barr

While Trump’s Attorney General’s actions were corrupted by his intentions to confuse the public through misrepresenting the Mueller Report and declaring Trump innocent, truly crippling the Justice Department and preventing it from pursuing justice on behalf of the American people, nothing could be crazier than Trump’s plan to castrate the Congress.  While it is true that Trump after being fact-checked has been found to have lied more than 8,158 times during his first two years in office, he has been crazy-like-a-fox with his lies about his interactions with Russians, obstruction-of-justice and the Mueller Report findings.  His propaganda campaign that claims he has been totally exonerated by the Mueller Report on Russian collusion has served as a thick fog to keep the public from seeing the truth.  In truth, the Mueller Report did not exonerate him of collusion with the Russians.  It found that there was not enough evidence to convict anyone in his campaign of conspiring with the Russians.  The report was about investigating the crime of conspiracy.  Collusion is not a legal term or crime but conspiracy is.  The report found plenty of evidence to support collusion.  But, collusion is not a chargeable offense.  Trump is confusing the issue intentionally and his lies are only a smoke screen.

There is an old common sense axiom, “crazy is as crazy does” and what’s really crazy are Trump’s attempts to prevent the Democrats in Congress from doing their constitutionally mandated job of oversight over the Executive Branch.  In violation of his oath of office, he is refusing to protect the constitution by openly defying congressional subpoenas and prohibiting his appointees and employees from doing the same in an attempt to disrupt investigations into the Mueller Report and possible crimes which include corruption committed by Trump.  To prevent the possibility of an American President becoming a dictator, the founding fathers created the three branches of government as co-equal branches with the Congress being given the power to impeach and try a president for the commission of high crimes and or misdemeanors.  This power can be executed without the president being indicted for or convicted of a crime.

Trump in a moment of craziness

At the beginning of April 2019, the Democrats began to conduct their investigations because Trump’s Attorney General William Barr refused to release the completed and un-redacted Mueller Report along with all of the evidence collected by the Special Counsel to both Houses of Congress.  Historically, all former Special Counsel Investigations have facilitated the release of all reports, un-redacted with all accompanying evidence acquired during the course of the investigations.  There was no established precedence for the actions taken by Barr on behalf of his boss, so-called-president Trump.  In further attempts to impede the Congress’ investigations, IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig refused to comply with the lawful request from House Ways and Means Committee Chairman, Richard Neil for the tax returns of Donald Trump.   According to Section 6103 of the IRS tax code {4}, the IRS Commissioner “shall” turn over the tax returns “upon written request” of the Chair of either Congressional tax committee or the federal employee who runs Congress’s Joint Committee on Taxation.  Despite the clear language of the law, Rettig refused the request and referred Chairman Neil to Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin who on May 6th said that he will not turn over Trump’s tax returns.  On May 10th, the Ways and Means Committee served a subpoena to the Secretary requiring his compliance to turn over Trump’s Tax Returns.  Mnuchin has not responded to the subpoena.

In attempts to get to the truth of the Mueller Report which was denied to the Congress by the redactions made by Barr and the withholding of all evidence, the Democrats have begun to subpoena information from a number of sources:

  1. House Judiciary Committee issues subpoena for un-redacted Mueller report on April 19th. Barr refused to honor the subpoena
  2. In April, the House Judiciary Committee issued a subpoena to former White House Counsel, Don McGahn for documents and testimony. McGahn defied the document request and has yet to say whether he’ll testify to the committee on May 21.
  3. The House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena to accounting firm Mazars USA seeking eight years of Trump’s financial documents. Trump filed a lawsuit as a private citizen against the committee in an attempt to invalidate the subpoena.
  4. The House Intelligence and Financial Services committees issued subpoenas to Deutsche Bank and Capital One for Trump’s financial records. Trump filed a lawsuit to block the subpoenas.

In response to the subpoenas issued by the various House committees, Trump acting like a dictator and not a president has forbidden any of his appointees or individuals of interest to the committees from responding to the subpoenas or talking to Congress.  This is a blatant obstruction-of-justice and abuse of power.  Each of these are impeachable offenses.  In an unprecedented statement that could only be made by someone ignorant of the constitution, suffering from delusions of grandeur or is just flat-out crazy, on April 24th, Trump showing his disdain for Congress and contempt for the constitution exclaimed: “We’re fighting all the subpoenas!”

While refusing to comply with a subpoena is illegal, the denial to comply with any and all subpoenas and the refusal to allow others to comply with legal subpoenas is tantamount to declaring oneself above the law.  This type of behavior is typical of tyrants and dictators, many of whom such as Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Kim Jong-un and Idi Amin Dada throughout history have been proven to be psychopaths.   Perhaps, this explains why Trump expresses a great deal of admiration for such leaders.  By Webster’s definition, the manner in which Trump conducts business and reigns over the Justice Depart is surely crazy; other aspects of his behavior can only be described in more dangerous and clinical terms.  According to the Society for the Study of Psychopathy, Donald Trump is a psychopath.  The traits of a psychopath include{5):

  • Lack of guilt/remorse
  • Lack of empathy
  • Lack of deep emotional attachments
  • Narcissism
  • Superficial charm
  • Dishonesty
  • Manipulative
  • Reckless risk-taking

According to Kelly McAleer, Psy.D,{5}: “The psychopath is callous, yet charming. He or she will con and manipulate others with charisma and intimidation and can effectively mimic feelings to present as “normal” to society. The psychopath is organized in their criminal thinking and behavior and can maintain good emotional and physical control, displaying little to no emotional or autonomic arousal, even under situations that most would find threatening or horrifying. The psychopath is keenly aware that what he or she is doing is wrong, but does not care.”   Now you must answer the question, “Does this sound like Donald Trump?

It has become obvious that under the Trump administration, justice isn’t blind.  Facts have shown that it has become crippled and crazy. It has also become corrupt.  The corruption is evidenced by the way in which Barr has lied to the American people about the outcome of the Mueller Report.  A further act of corruption was committed when he perjured himself by lying to Congress on two occasions.  Despite how dastardly these lawless acts are, a more covert and insidious form of corruption exists in the halls of Congress.

While many Americans mistakenly believe that the Justice Department is the only government entity associated with the administration and enforcement of our nation’s laws, nothing could be further from the truth.  Based upon the constitution, the Senate has as big a role to play in the corruption that has converted our founding fathers American dream into Trump-land.  The role of approving Trump’s judicial appointments, cabinet appointments and Attorney General is the purview of the Senate.  As a check and balance against Tyranny, not imagining that political parties would ever place their own self-interest or those of a foreign power above those of the nation, the founding fathers trusted the Senate to keep America safe from tyranny.  Aside from placing the Justice Department under the control of the Executive Branch, this has proven to be their biggest downfall and flaw in the constitution.

The Republicans in the Senate have been corrupted by special interest and money thrown at them by lobbyist since the Nixon administration.  And most recently, they have become controlled and corrupted by Russian money.  Proof of this is offered in a 2-part article published on this site in February of this year titled “The Republican Senate, Putin’s Payola Part I and Part II.” {6}  Their complicity in Trump’s actions and their own traitorous behavior is indicative of this famous 100 year old quote from Teddy Roosevelt, war hero and Former Republican President: “When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer ‘Present’ or ‘Not Guilty!”

Republican President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt

The articles provide proof of Putin’s influence over Republican Senators through a series of campaign donations totaling over $5.8 million in contributions from Russian oligarchs to Mitch McConnell and other Republican Senators.  It also includes proof of more than $105 million given to the Trump Inauguration Committee from Russian oligarchs.  There is no more convincing proof that the Russians not only interfered in the 2016 election but through the use of their money, have established an infrastructure within our Senate to help Putin’s Manchurian Candidate, Donald Trump accomplish his mission of destroying our Republic by using our own constitutional system of justice against us.

Putin's Payola Part 2 Diagram

America is no longer the dream country of our founding fathers.  Our system of justice which was eloquently defined in the constitution by the founding fathers has become crippled, crazy and corrupted by our elected officials.  The so-called–president, Donald J. Trump and his Republican minions who go by the names of McConnell, Graham, Cornyn and Pence have all violated their oaths of office.  In doing so, they have become traitors.  They have betrayed the American people and are on track to destroying our great democratic republic.  In the face of such insidious acts, it is not justice that is blind.  Lady Justice has also been betrayed.  It is the American people who have trusted their elected officials and have become blinded to their actions.  It is their blind trust that will bring America to her knees causing her to die a miserable death, face-down in the mud like the German Republic in 1933 when Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Party rose to power.  To avoid what appears to be an inevitable fate, Americans need to take a page out of Congressman Adam Schiff’s book and say: “It’s not okay!”
