“The Bloody Truth: Trump’s COVID-19 Coronavirus Management for Profit” is food for thought. It’s thought every single American should engage in if he or she is concerned about the lives and safety of his or her loved ones. Other food for thought that should be considered during Trump’s COVID-19 crisis is a quote from François-Marie Arouet, known by his nom de plume “Voltaire”, a French Enlightenment writer, historian, and philosopher:
“It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets.”
Is Trump a murderer? Will he be punished? To put this quote into context with Trump’s COVID-19 crisis, one must understand just what Trump is doing. When his behavior is analyzed, his actions are trumpets sounding a case for the depravity of Voltaire’s murder. It is murder because his actions and policies or lack of policies are causing the deaths of thousands of Americans merely for political reasons, the profit of Trump’s “re-election at all costs.”
Trump’s management of the crisis is intentional mismanagement and a lack of leadership. Despite having known about the pandemic months in advance, he did nothing to prepare the country for its onset. There is no logic for his reasoning. His lies, attacks on Democratic governors, the World Health Organization and egomaniacal behavior is madness. The only reason applicable to the results from his actions is a desire to submit the country to the terrors of this disease. While this conclusion may seem unfathomable as it should be, in reality, it is not. His strategies and responses may appear to be those of a bumbling idiot, but no president or leader of any major power in the history of the world has ever been this idiotic. Instead, he is clever as a fox.
Trump’s actions are intentional and very well thought out. They are designed to create confusion, division, chaos and mass deaths. Why? It’s simple! If the country is in chaos, it is easier to conquer from within. Once the American people are conquered, Trump will not face the consequences that await him for the commissions of his crimes. A prime example is his most recent twitter attacks on the Democratic governors of Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia who are following Trump’s established federal government guidelines for the control of the virus. However, these governors are opposed to re-opening the economies of their states without proper testing. This is contrary to Trump’s plan to re-start the nation’s economy regardless of the consequences to the public. Trump’s tweets are illegal. They incite insurrection against the state governments and are part of a coordinated effort to destabilize the governments of Democratic governors determined to place the health and welfare of their citizens over the profits of corporations or Trump’s re-election worries.
According to a Mother Jones article dated April 17, 2020 (2):
“Earlier this week, hundreds of demonstrators blocked the streets of Lansing, Michigan, and defied an executive order from Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to shelter in place to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
The protest, known as “Operation Gridlock,” featured a fair share of MAGA hats, Trump flags, at least one Confederate flag, chants of “Lock her up!” regarding Whitmer, and far-right groups from the Proud Boys to the Michigan Liberty Militia. They clogged up the streets outside the state Capitol and defied Whitmer’s ban on public gatherings.
The whole charade was facilitated by the Michigan Conservative Coalition, a conservative political group that doubles as a front for Michigan Trump Republicans, and promoted by the Michigan Freedom Fund, a conservative group with ties to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, a Michigan billionaire philanthropist power broker before she joined the Trump administration. “
COVID-19 has changed all aspects of American society, even how we vote in our elections as evidenced by the recent Wisconsin primary election. Trump and his Republican cronies are in stark opposition to expanding our rights to vote by mail. Republican legislators are waging court battles to prevent people from voting by mail, reduce the number of polling places and to expand voter suppression. Now with COVID-19 and the lack of personal protection equipment for individual equipment, people are being forced to choose between voting and their health and wellbeing. The most vulnerable segment of the population is senior citizens. Seniors are also the most prolific voters and the recipients of Democratic policies like Medicare and other programs that support the elderly. Now, seniors are being forced to view voting as a life and death decision. When forced with that decision, most people will choose life over voting. And Republicans feel that the fewer people vote, the better their chances of staying in power.
All of these elements factor in Trump’s decisions that govern his behavior in this pandemic crisis. These decisions allow his actions to kill and go unpunished because he sounds the trumpets of blame. He blames everyone from the World Health Organization to Democratic governors who have acted in concert to protect their citizens in the face of Trump’s intentional refusals to lead and save American lives. According to Trump, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country has peaked and has declined. He cites this as a reason for re-opening the American economy. However, the data supplied by the CDC proves that this is a lie.
It is a well-known fact that the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York legally documents Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Michael Cohen elections tampering case. Also known is the fact that the Attorney General of the State of New York is investigating Trump and the Trump Organization for fraud, state income tax evasion and various other serious crimes including racketeering and Rico Act violations. If convicted, not only would Trump spend the rest of his life in prison, he could also lose his vast empire and wealth subject to judicial forfeiture. Faced with these consequences, it is no wonder he has taken immoral and corrupt actions during the COVID-19 crisis. Many members of the Senate and Congress are considering this to be a dereliction of duty which has cost thousands of lives.
Trump’s political survival is not based upon some wild conspiracy theory. It is evidenced by his words. There can be no other motivation for Trump’s behavior. It is based upon plain and simple, everyday observations of Trump’s own words which tie his re-election to the economy which is now being devastated by the COVIS-19 outbreak. Other observations that you have made over the past three months when placed into legal context can be defined as nothing other than murder. Such behavior is proof of a depraved-heart which has led to the murder of tens of thousands of innocent Americans.
“Depraved-heart murder is a type of murder where an individual acts with a “depraved indifference” to human life and where such an act results in a death, despite that individual not explicitly intending to kill” (1).
Currently, the death rate from the pandemic is 5.2% in the United States. The death rate for the common flu is one-tenth of one percent. Simply put, the COVID-19 death rate is 5,200 percent that of the flu. It has been on a steady increase since the start of the outbreak in America and is not dropping off as claimed by Trump. Point-of-fact, the Trump administration has never quoted a death rate in any of its pandemic daily briefings. The death rate and the outbreak could have been reduced if Trump had enacted the Defence Protection Act. Instead of ordering the country’s major corporations to produce the necessary equipment for all American citizens needed for survival, he has resorted to secretive deals. None of the details of these secret negotiations have ever been made public.
Despite Trump’s plans to re-open the economy, the death toll rises as the virus spreads. Most recent recommendations from the CDC advise all Americans to wear masks and gloves when out in public. But without fully using the Defence Protection Act, most Americans may be forced to return to work without the needed equipment to protect them from the disease.
On Thursday, April 16th, President Trump issued his national guidelines for the re-opening of the nation’s economy. The guidelines are a plan that will lead the country into a much deeper disaster. All medical professionals and most corporate leaders call for a national testing program to be in place before easing social distancing policies. The Trump plan has no provisions or funding for a national testing program.
Opening Up America Again
Despite all the shortcomings of the so-called plan, most Republican governors have jumped on board and are re-opening their state economies as early as Monday, April 20th. In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott is re-opening the economy and doubling down on Trump’s lies. Data provided by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services proves that COVID-19 has not peaked yet. Therefore, it is not in decline, and the state’s citizens are in grave danger.
The COVID-19 virus is on the rise in America. Social distancing efforts to control it have been successful in the hardest-hit states. But in deep-red states where Republican governors are following Trump’s rhetoric, the virus is on the rise. President Trump has refused to issue a national stay-at-home order and eight Republican governors are following in his footsteps. These states have seen a sharp rise in coronavirus cases. Oklahoma has seen a 53% increase in cases over the past week, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. Cases jumped 60% in Arkansas, 74% in Nebraska, and 82% in Iowa. South Dakota experienced a huge 205% spike.
In South Dakota, a spike in cases is impacting the nation’s food chain. Smithfield Foods in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a subsidiary of Tyson Foods produces roughly 5% of U.S. pork. It shut down after over 500 workers became infected. Tyson has since closed three other plants for disinfecting, one indefinitely. Georgia, a state with a Republican governor that is refusing to issues a stay-at-home order, reported Friday that 650 deaths statewide have been linked to the virus. Infections have been confirmed in more than 17,100 people. About 20% of them were hospitalized.
The actions by these Republican governors are criminal at the very least. Unless Trump and his Governors place the safety of American citizens above re-election, for-profit gains and other partisan political agendas the death toll in this country will continue to rise. “The Bloody Truth: Trump’s COVID-19 Coronavirus Management for Profit” has been designed for the sole purpose of his re-election. Trump’s refusal to issue a national stay-at-home order, to implement national testing and contact tracing initiative, a national distribution plan to provide personal protective equipment for all American citizens returning to work and the effective implementation of the Defence Protection Acts are all acts of a depraved heart. The unnecessary American deaths caused by Trump’s desire to open the economy at all costs and other actions are by legal definition depraved-heart-murder. Trump and each of the Republican governors must be held accountable and should be tried for their crimes.
